Our besthopes team have many years of experience as Solution Focused practitioners
Unlike conventional consultants Solution Focused coaches believe that whatever the difficulty, there will always be times when the problem is less apparent or even absent altogether. There could even be times when part of the solution presents itself and it is our role to help identify these instances. The assumption with Solution Focused approaches is that the individual and organisation always have the talent and resources to overcome the difficulty and this is also our belief.
At besthopes we seek to work with our clients and identify exceptions to the problems and difficulties they are experiencing. We look for small signs of change and amplify these towards finding possible solutions and building commitment to action.
We sincerely believe that since the focus is directly on solutions, progress and action, and additional time is not spent dwelling on the problem, Solution Focused approaches bring about more immediate change
The approach focuses on harnessing strengths and resources to overcome difficulties and facilitate change, rejecting conventional approaches that share in the widespread assumption that understanding the problem is the best way of solving it.
Solution Focused practice was originally developed in the 1980s by Steve de Shazer and colleagues for the purpose of family therapy. Since then it has developed from a little known, unconventional approach to therapy to a widely used approach to facilitate individual and organisational change.
